FORMER Dergview assistant Tommy Canning has been appointed as the new manager of Fermanagh and Western League Division One side, Churchtown FC.

Canning, the current Tyrone under-16 Milk Cup boss, was named as a replacement for Dominic McMullin, who parted company with the Castlederg club before Christmas.

The Strabane man will bring considerable experience to the post having worked alongside, Colin Colhoun, Adrian Forbes and Harry McConkey at Championship level.

And as well as his involvement with the county’s MIlk Cup seniors, Canning also heads up the ladies development programme in the north west. The new man’s first match in charge will be against Shelbourne on Saturday.
