ULSTER HERALD SPORTS AWARDS
Back in September and, a mere four years after entering the world of flat racing for the first time, Jill Robinson was crowned the Irish Field Ladies National Champion.
It was a stunning success that made the manager of the Lissan Farm Stables not only a worthy recipient of the Ulster Herald Sports Personality award for the month of September but now the Ulster Herald’s Sports Personality of the Year.
During the packed awards night in Kellys’ Inn Garvaghey on Friday night, Omagh Thunder were the other big winners. The basketball club’s prodigy Oisin Kerlin was named Young Sports Person of the Year, while the club itself clinched Youth Team of the Year.
There were also awards for local club Errigal Ciaran, Loreto Grammar’s gaelic footballers, and Omagh’s Irish Junior Cup champions Strathroy Harps.
Special awards were also presented to Tyrone GAA legend Donal Donnelly, Greencastle 5 organiser Oliver McCullagh, Castlederg’s Richard Clarke and Jason Bradley of the Omagh District Special Olympics Club.
