Tyrone’s ‘Songbird’ makes it to live stages of The Voice

The Voice

POMEROY singer Andrea Begley proved that she is very much a ‘Songbird’ as she powered her way through to the live shows of BBC’s The Voice last night.

The Tyrone girl’s flawless rendition of the Eva Cassidy classic ‘Songbird’ was enough to convince team mentor Danny O’Donoghue to take her through to the live shows, as the competition really takes off.

Andrea has only ten-per-cent vision, losing most of her sight to glaucoma as a child.

However, she did not let it hold her back and said that in the blind auditions she felt she was on a level playing field with both the judges and other contestants.

The 26 year-old civil servant goes through alongside Karl Michael and Mitchell Emms on Team Danny, as The Script front man finalised his team to take on those of fellow judges, Tom Jones, Will.I.Am and Jessie J in the hit BBC show.

Live broadcasts are commencing next weekend and the smash hit programme is already clocking up viewing figures of over nine million viewers a week.
