In excellent running conditions and course, things were set for a superb evening of running, with forty-nine teams taking part in the event.

There was a large field of quality runners but it was the talented Derry City Track Club team who were the overall winners recording a brilliant finishing time of 20:11.

Omagh Harrier Stephen Duncan produced a first-class run in recording the fastest mile on the night in 4:28 and Enniskillen runner Tara Malone claimed the fastest female mile in 5:46.

Carmen Runners Darryl Meenagh, Ciaran McAnespie, Aileen Hurson and Catrion Gillen all had a remarkable run to become winners of the Mixed Team category.

Other winners on the night were Naomh Colmcille Hurling Club, snatching up the Sports Team trophy and the Fastest Business title was rewarded to Colm McGuone’s Road Service team.

Taking the win in the Male Team category in an incredible time of 24.31 was the Male Over 60s team which included Tommy Harraghy, Jim Breen, Malcolm Mc Causland and Oliver McCullagh.

Carmen Runners and the Project Africa Athletics would like to thank all the clubs and teams that came to support the relay, and especially to those who travelled some distance.

A huge thank you to Oliver McCullagh and neighbouring running club, Sperrin Harriers for providing time clocks and stopwatches for the evening. The success of the event would not have been possible without the hard work of those who helped with registration, post-race refreshments, marshalling of the roads and use of Carrickmore GFC facilities.
