The EU referendum has failed to inspire a large turnout in West Tyrone.

Some 40,061 votes were cast in the landmark poll from a total eligible electorate of 64,941 – 61.69%.

The turnout is only marginally up on the 59.9% (39,325) turnout for the May Assembly election, which was a record low for the constituency.

It’s a stark contrast to the 83% who turned out to vote in the momentous Good Friday Agreement referendum in 1998.

The result should be known by 1.30am.
