LISTEN TO THIS
NOT necessarily a brand new artist but I’ve been listening to Jamie N Commons quite a bit recently. He’s a London based singer songwriter who you will most likely recognise from the BBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympics with his track ‘Not Gonna Break Me’ providing the soundtrack as well as Jay Z’s monster hit ‘Jungle’.
Born in Bristol, Commons was relocated to Chicago as a child. Brought up in the city of the Chicago blues he returned to England at the age of 16, taking with him a clear sense of the blues.
He learned how to play the guitar and moved to London to study music emerging in his 20’s with a hoarse, gravel-laced voice. He quickly attracted critical attention, released a debut EP ‘The Baron’ in 2011, a second EP ‘Rumble and Sway’ in 2013 and in 2014 released single, ‘Karma’, which went on to become the official theme song for the popular video game Battlefield Hardline.
In 2015, he released single ‘Marathon’ which had featured on the FIFA 14 soundtrack, other soundtracks featuring Commons include Suits, Need for Speed, Hercules and the critically acclaimed The Walking Dead soundtrack which featured track ‘Lead Me Home’.
He has just released a track with French DJ ‘Kungs’ titled ‘Don’t Know Yet’, a certain hit. Go check him out on Spotify or Soundcloud.
