Clarke still trailing despite Buchanan surplus boost

UUP candidate Alicia Clarke is still trailing despite a boost of over a thousand votes from Tom Buchanan’s surplus.

The 24-year-old hoping to retain the seat previously held by Ross Hussey received 1,034.93 from the Elected DUP Assembly member.


Despite this boost she still trails Declan McAleer from Sinn Fein who sits on 6,034.57 and the SDLPs Daniel McCrossan on 6,300.1 votes.

TUV candidate Charlie Chittick received 577,79 from his former DUP colleague. a handful other votes went to the remaining candidates.

Stage three will now see the distribution of Michaela Boyles surplus followed by Barry McElduff’s surplus in stage four. The majority of these 500 plus votes are expected to go to their remaining running mate Declan McAleer.
