Fintona Swifts crowned champions

Fintona Swifts celebrate title success

JUST nine months after rejoining the Fermanagh and Western League, Fintona Swifts were crowned Division Three champions following a resounding 5-0 victory over Fivemiletown United Seconds yesterday
At Ecclesville Park Swifts brushed aside the visiting challenge in comprehensive fashion to capture the Brendan Keogh Memorial Cup with goals from Ryan Cunningham (2), Kris Hamilton, Cathal Moore and Hugh McCarney.
Saturday’s win proved a fitting climax to a season in which Seamus McCarron’s resurgent outfit suffered only one league defeat.
Last season Swifts were forced to pull out of the league, following their relegation from Division One, but now it appears they are back with a bang.
No-one was more delighted by that fact on Saturday evening than manager McCarron.
“This success now gives us something to build on,” said McCarron.
