Pupils rev to success with Formula One car designs

Talented year seven pupils of Carntall Primary School, Clogher, recently revved to victory in a top science competition in the North with their mini Formula One car designs.

The pupils were taking part in the Sentinus’ Formula One Technology Challenge, hosted by Sentinus Young Innovators (Junior).

One of the biggest events of its kind in the UK, the Sentinus challenges celebrate the achievements of young people in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Not only did the pupils come away with the impressive ‘fastest car award’, but were also crowned the ‘overall winners’. As part of the technology challenge, the creative students meticulously designed, created marketed and raced their own miniature Formula One cars.

“Being awarded ‘overall winner’ is a fantastic accolade to bring back to the Clogher Valley,” said Roger Clarke, school principal.

The school, who are incredibly proud of their award-winning pupils, has expressed thanks to local sponsors Fannin’s Garage, Majo plastics, Valley Auto Parts, WW Tyres, Fane Valley, Kerr Bros, Bud’s Suds and TC Autos who supported the event.
