KILKENNY rider Vincent Byrne won the coveted New Heights Champions Series GP at the recent Omagh Show.
Riding Martin Walsh’s Hannibal V Overis Z, Byrne emerged victorious from a top class line-up with Greg Broderick, riding Molly Tracy’s gelding Chinbook II, claiming runners up spot.
Third was Dermott Lennon on Victoria Loane’s gelding Gelvin’s Touch.
The GP was the highlight of two full days of fantastic action with a total prize fund of £25, 000 up for grabs.
Other winners included Simon Scott, who riding Ian Millar’s Ploverfield Lilyana won the Eddie MCGinn speed event, while Anthony O’Regan on his own stallion Velvet Blackjack cleared two metres to win the RDS Puissance Qualifier with TRM sponsor Raoul Masterson looking on.
Friday’s winner of the SJI National Grand Prix was Kenneth Graham from Muff with John Floody second.
