Storm Eleanor leaves homes without power

Strong winds left hundreds of homes across Co Tyrone without power on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

Faults were reported in the Omagh, Dromore, Fintona, Aughnacloy, Killeeshil and Cookstown areas as Storm Eleanor hit the county.

Engineers worked through the night to restore power to most premises.

According to NIE, around 175 premises around the county were still without power at 9am on Wednesday, with faults blamed on the weather.

Areas impacted include: Fintona, Omagh, Cranagh, Killeeshil and the area between Moy and Tamnamore.

NIE has said the 11 premises still without power in the wider Omagh area should be reconnected by 1pm on Wednesday. But no times have been estimated for the remaining areas as of 9am.

The biggest outage on Wednesday morning remains Fintona (61), Cranagh (44) and Killeeshil (33).

There are reports of many fallen trees on roads across Tyrone as Storm Eleanor battered the county on Tuesday...

The Met Office has issued further warnings for very strong winds on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday.
