Tyrone quintet heading ‘down under’ with NI team

Clogher’s Ashley Robinson is among five Tyrone athletes selected to represent Northern Ireland at April’s Commonwealth Games in Australia.

FIVE sports people from Tyrone received the news they had been patiently waiting for over the last few months today (Wednesday) when the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council announced its team for the 2018 Games, which will be held in the Gold Coast, Australia, in April.


The local contingent of Sommer Lecky, Marc Potts, Marcus Christie, Neamh Woods and Ashley Robinson, as well as Raphoe’s Rachel Darragh, will represent Northern Ireland in athletics, cycling, netball and table tennis and each of them will now be focused on training and remaining injury free over the next few months to ensure they can participate in what is sure to be a memorable spectacle.
