One of the most popular local road races in Ulster is helping local people get off the couch and get fit in time for Spring.
The Beragh 5 Mile Road Race and 5K Fun Run/Walk takes place on Easter Saturday (March 31) this year.
But ahead of that, a new couch to 5K programme is starting at St Mary’s Park in Beragh this Saturday (February 3).
The eight week programme will start at 10am each Saturday led by experienced coach Conor Moore, complimented with a midweek session at 7pm on Wednesdays, led by Darryl Meenagh, with other coaches and helpers assisting.
Race co-ordinator Adrian Donnelly said, “If you are not currently running at the moment, but would like a reason to start again, this is your chance. This is a programme open to all ages and all abilities.
“If anyone has kept up the running and would like to volunteer as a helper with the new group, your offer would be more than welcome and appreciated.
“And if you know anyone that might be interested in joining please spread the word.”
Registration takes place at 9.30am on Saturday February 3 in the Beragh GAA Pavilion at St Mary’s Park.
The cost of the programme is £30 per adult, £10 per child or £50 per family.
This includes the eight week training programme, including two sessions per week, your entry into the Beragh 5K race with chipped time, and head buff on Easter Saturday March 31.
