A TRACTOR run held in the memory of a deceased Young Farmer’s member has raised £1,387 for the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance.

On Sunday past, Derg Valley Young Farmer’s long awaited tractor run took to the road with a total of 75 tractors supporting the annual event. The run was held in memory of Young Farmer’s member Matthew Gordon. The Castlederg mechanic was killed in a construction accident in January 2015.

The route saw tractors head through Newtownstewart, Baronscourt, Drumlegagh, the Drumquin Road and back to Castlederg.

Reflecting on the success of the run, the Young Farmer’s Club leader Mark Hamilton thanked all who got involved.
“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, to all those who attended and to everyone who helped make the day a success.

“Matthew was a very active member of Young Farmer’s and was a big part of the club, and the tractor run helped to commemorate him. Congratulations to all our prize winners and special thanks to Foyle Food Group, D&M Farm Services Ltd. and L W Surphlis for kindly donating the prizes.”
