WHILE bitterly disappointed his team had for the second year running fallen at the penultimate hurdle of the Towns’ Cup, Omagh Accies 1st XV skipper Mervyn Edgar believes the future is bright for the Coneywarren club.

TWELVE months on from capturing the Schools’ Trophy for the first time in their history, Omagh Academy’s 1st XV rugby players recorded yet another first by returning to Stevenson Park on Thursday afternoon to defeat Rainey Endowed 24-0 in clinching the coveted Danske Bank Schools Bowl.

FOR the third year running Omagh Academy 1st XV rugby players will contest a major schools final when they lock horns with Rainey Endowed in the Danske Bank Schools Bowl final at Stevenson Park, Dungannon later this afternoon (Thursday, 2pm)

CLOGHER’S hopes of securing a top four finish suffered a massive set back, at Donaldson Park on Saturday, when Donaghadee handed out a comprehensive Qualifying League One defeat to the reigning champions.

A MAGNIFICENT defensive effort saw Omagh Accies getting the better of neighbouring Clogher Valley in an absorbing Towns Cup derby quarter final clash, at the Cran on Saturday afternoon.

DESPITE missing the services of a number of key forwards Omagh Accies skipper Mervyn Edgar is cautiously optimistic his team can cause a major shock by defeating holders and neighbours Clogher Valley in the quarter-finals of the Towns’ Cup at the Cran on Saturday (Kick off 2.30pm).
