Mayo…..0-1

BRILLIANT goals at crucial stages of both halves made all the difference for Tyrone as they made home advantage count in emphatic fashion with a performance brimming with vitality at Healy Park yesterday.

Corner forward, Darren McCurry, contributed the vital strikes as the direct style and scoretaking of the Red Hands saw them sweep aside last year’s defeated All-Ireland finalists. It was a game watched by an attendance of 6,351 and the home contingent wasn’t disappointed by the free-flowing football produced by this new-look Tyrone team.

Victory means that they are now at the right end of the Division One table ahead of the month-long break until their next match on March 9. In the meantime, they can reflect on a performance which provides another timely boost to their confidence.

Matthew Donnelly excelled at full-forward with five points from play. But there were many others who proved their worth here and all will be hoping for more of the same as the season progresses.
