A 27-YEAR-OLD Derry man has admitted stealing a Volkswagen Golf from a Tyrone car dealer.
Ian William Reid, with an address in Norwell Park, Castlerock in Derry, pleaded guilty to four charges at Dungannon Crown on Thursday.
The 27-year-old admitted stealing the Volkswagen car, along with various car keys, from Greg Mitchell Motors in Victoria Bridge on February 13 this year.
Reid also admitted criminally damaging a window, a metal key box, two panes of glass, a fence and electrical lighting at the car dealer, situated along the main A5 road on the same date.
The defendant was later stopped by police on the Melmount Road in Strabane on February 13, prompting two further charges of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. Standing in the dock of Dungannon Crown Court last week, Reid pleaded guilty to all four charges.
However the 27-year-old has denied five additional charges, and will now face a Crown trial.
It is alleged Reid stole £5,000 cash in January this year. He is further charged with converting the stolen cash by purchasing a vehicle on February 3 2014.
On February 6 2014, he is accused of entering as a trespasser a dwelling on the Duncastle Road, Newbuildings in Derry, stealing cash, an iPad, brown boots and a jacket.
Four days later, on February 10, Reid is accused of trespassing at the same dwelling, stealing £800 and €1,000 in cash.
The fifth charge relates to an allegation that Reid criminally damaged a window and a gun cabinet on February 10 2014.
Releasing the 27-year-old on continuing bail, Her Honour Judge Melody McReynolds fixed a trial for October 15 at Dungannon Courthouse.
