EXPERIENCED co-driver Gordon Noble will today begin an exciting new chapter in his career when he partners veteran rally driver Japie van Niekerk in the Tour Natal, the opening round of the 2015 National Rally Championship in South Africa.
Noble, who read the notes for Trillick driver Alastair Fisher during the 2014 Junior World Rally Championship, flew out to South Africa on Saturday to prepare for the Tour Natal which begins in Scottburgh tomorrow (Friday).
The Roads Service traffic engineer has competed successfully in South Africa on a number of occasions in the past and in 2006 partnered Alastair McRae to victory in the Zulu Rally.
Niekerk of NAD Rally, is a hugely experienced campaigner and many believe teaming up with Noble in the New Africa Developments Fiesta has increased his chances of success.
As for Omagh man Noble he’s relishing another new challenge.
“This is an exciting new chapter in my career and I’m delighted to join up with Japie and get a couple of practice stage behind us,” he said.
“The language spoken between driver and co-pilot is an international one but there is obviously quite a lot of fine tuning that we need to do so that we can go all out in the opening stages.”
The Tour Natal runs over two days beginning with six stages over 71kilometres tomorrow before competitors get into the meat of the event on Saturday over 107 kilometres split into five stages.
