Omagh co-driver Gordon Noble and his driving partner Japie van Niekerk averted a potential disaster when crashing in the Sasol Rally in South Africa on Saturday.
During a special stage in the town of Nelspruit the pair were forced to crash into fellow competitor Henk Lategan – who had driven straight into the path of the oncoming Ford Fiesta – to avoid careering into a crowd of spectators on their left hand side.
Niekerk and Noble were traveling at over 120km/ph before impact and their quick actions ensured a lucky escape for all concerned.
