BERAGH’S finest Marc Potts has pedalled his way into the Ireland senior track squad following his impressive performance at the An Post Ras.
The Omagh Wheeler, who rides for the PCT Tomacc team in Belguim, finished 10th in stage seven, was third best county rider and 26th overall. His stunning display was duly noted by selectors and this week the 23-year-old linked up with the Ireland set-up for a training camp in Majorca.
Should Potts prove his worth then he will be invited to participate in an intense programme of racing planned for the coming winter.
Reacting to his inclusion Potts said, “I’m over in Majorca for two weeks to have a go on the track. If all goes well then I’ll be part of the senior track team and will spend the winter in Majorca. That will also mean travelling around the world for World Cups, which would be incredible.”
