Special celebration tonight for Monsignor Donnelly

A SPECIAL celebration event marking the departure of Monsignor Joseph Donnelly from the parish of Drumragh is being held.

The ‘Parish Evening of Appreciation and Gratitude’ takes place tonight (Thursday) in St Joseph’s Hall.

It will be preceded by Mass at 7pm in the Sacred Heart Church which will be celebrated by Monsignor Donnelly (pictured).


There will be light refreshments provided and some local entertainment.

Monsignor Donnelly retired as parish priest of Drumragh after 15 years serving the people of the Omagh area.

A native of Draperstown in South Derry, he had previously served in the parish following his ordination in 1966 before returning at the start of the century.

It is expected that hundreds of people will attend tonight’s celebration for Monsignor Donnelly, who is now based in Derry.
