Police investigate assault at Fintona music festival

A YOUNG man has been left with serious injuries following an assault at a Fintona music festival.

The incident, which took place at The Jamboree in the Park at the Ecclesville Centre, Fintona on Saturday, May 5, saw a man sustain a broken jaw after he became the victim of an unprovoked attack.

Police believe the incident took place between 11-11.30pm.


A PSNI spokesperson explained, “Last Saturday night, a young man went to a function in the Ecclesville Centre in Fintona for a wee drink and a dance and ended up being treated in hospital for a broken jaw.

He suffered this injury as a result of being punched once by a complete stranger and now faces a long road to recovery.

“We believe that the unprovoked assault took place inside the venue sometime between 11-11.30pm.

“The person responsible for the assault was described as being a young, stockily built male with fair hair.”

With this, police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“Were you at the Ecclesville Centre on Saturday night and did you witness this incident? Do you have any information which could help us to identify the individual involved in this assault?

“If so, we would ask you to give us a call and tell us what you saw. We can be contacted at Omagh station on 101 and the reference number for the incident is 1030 07/05/18.


“Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers who can be contacted on 0800 555 111.”
