Body recovered from river in Tyrone

THE body of a man in his 60s was recovered from a river in Benburb on Saturday (June 30) afternoon.

It is believed the man was originally from the Eskra area but had been living in Ardboe


A police spokesperson said they do not believe the death was suspicious.

The PSNI stated, “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man, aged in his 60s, whose body was recovered from a river in Benburb yesterday afternoon, Saturday, June 30.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of the death which is not believed to be suspicious.”

Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP Michelle Gildernew has sent her condolences to the family of a man who tragically drowned in Benburb on Saturday.

Ms Gildernew commented, “My thoughts and prayers are with the family who I am sure are heartbroken today. I am calling on everyone to be extremely careful and cautious during this current hot spell when in Loughs and rivers.”
