CARRICKMORE hairdresser Caroline McMahon is set for the trip of a lifetime after she was chosen as a finalist for the world-renowned ‘One Shot Hair Awards.’

Caroline, who is the proprietor of ‘Hidden Hair’ salon on Main Street, Donaghmore will make the journey to San Antonio, Texas with her husband Alex for the awards ceremony on Sunday, August 26.

Fighting off stiff competition from over 311,000 entrants, the local lady is the only person from Ireland or Britain to be selected for the final.
Clearly thrilled to make the final and be part of the biggest hairdressing celebration in the world, Caroline beamed, “I am really looking forward to going over the San Antonio. It is a once in a life-time experience. I can’t wait. I’m only back from holidays so hardly deserve another one so soon!”

Caroline entered the competition with the hundreds of thousands of hopefuls from around the world but amazingly, she has made the top 24 in the ‘Extensions’ category.

At the finals, while rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in the hairdressing business, Caroline will also attend ‘Look and Learn’ demonstrations, celebrity stylist panel discussions as well as an exclusive cocktail party and pool party. Among the celebrity hairstylists will be Chris Appleton, Tom Bachik and Andrew Fitzsimons (from Dublin) who style top celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lopez.

Hairdressing has been in Caroline’s veins since she was a schoolgirl of 14 when her father built a salon for her to practice and work from home. She subsequently spent six years in Perth, Australia and for over two years of that time ran her own hairdressing salon, also named ‘Hidden Hair’ before returning home to be close to her family again.

She added, “I have been hairdressing for over 15 years and trained in Omagh college. I entered the competition six months ago. Two weeks ago while on holiday I was notified that I reached the final. I was over the moon. In fact I’m still buzzing with the excitement.

“I specialise in blonde and balayage hair colouring and also in event styling, including our signature glamour waves and ponytails. So while it promises to be the experience of a life-time, most importantly I want to attain more hairdressing education and skills to bring back to the salon.”
