STRABANE lad Ben Gallagher has signed his first professional contract with Dungannon Swifts.

The gifted 16-year-old penned a two-year contract with Swifts last week after impressing for the club’s U16s, U18s and U20s.

Gallagher, who began his football career with Sion Swifts, has been a regular in the Tyrone County SuperCupNI teams, and at this year’s tournament played against top Academy sides Right To Dream and Club America, among others.

He, too, is a valued member of the Northern Ireland U16 squad after progressing through the ClubNI set-up, and is well used to the big stage having played against international opposition.

The attacking player trained with Swifts on Thursday night and he’s delighted to be rewarded for all his hard work with his first professional contract.

“It’s amazing, I’m so excited for the season ahead of me and I am really looking forward to training with the boys,” he said.

“Signing my first professional contract is a fantastic feeling.”
