Fresh appeal over fatal road crash in Omagh

POLICE investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the Great Northern Road in Omagh last Tuesday morning are renewing their appeal for witnesses.

Fintona native Sean Reid sadly died last Tuesday after he was struck by a vehicle that morning. The 69-year-old was laid to rest at St Lawrence’s Church on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking at his funeral, Canon Patrick Marron described Mr Reid as a “respectful family man” who was extremely close to his 14 siblings.


Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision which killed Mr Reid. Constable McNee said, “I am continuing to appeal to anyone who was traveling on the Great Northern Road and who witnessed the collision to contact police.

“I am particularly keen to speak with anyone who has dashcam or helmet footage and observed the grey coloured BMW X3 prior to or at the time of the collision, to contact officers in the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference 430 04/09/18.”
