Tyrone are crowned All-Ireland champions

THE Tyrone ladies successfully exorcised the ghosts of 2017 as they romped to the All-Ireland Intermediate title at Croke Park this afternoon following a stunning 6-8 to 1-14 win over Meath.

Last September the same group of players slumped back to the changing rooms heartbroken after a series of early misses ultimately proved costly as they lost 1-13 to 1-10 to Tipperary.

There would be no such misery this year as Gerry Moane’s side controlled the game from start to finish,

Four of their goals came in the first half with Neamh Woods, Niamh Hughes, Grainne Rafferty and Niamh O’Neill all hitting the net to give them a 4-3 to 0-7 half-time lead.

They all but sealed the matter at the start of the second half as Woods stormed through for her second major.

Gemma Begley added a sixth late on and although Stacey Grimes converted a penalty for Meath in the final stages, the Red Hands were able to enjoy the countdown to the hooter as they were crowned All-Ireland champions.
