Goals help Coalisland win tenth county title

Coalisland Fianna are county champions after they defeated Killyclogher in the county final by 2-11 to 1-7.

Killyclogher were in control for much of the first half and led by 1-4 fto 0-5 at half time.

Coalisland did not score from play in the first half, but they made up for that in the second half when they hit two majors to turn the game in their favour.

Both came from long ball launched into the Killyclogher goal mouth. The first was spilled by the goalkeeper and Paddy McNeice turned to the ball into the net on the 42nd minute.

Two minutes later, the ball was in the net again when Peter McGahan caught a high ball in from Niall Kerr, turned and guided it to the net off the post.

Killyclogher went to pieces after that, missed frees and poor attempts compounded a bad day for the St Mary’s.

But it was sheer delight for Coalisland as Stephen McNally lifted the cup.
