Sproule returns ‘home’ to take charge at Dergview

IVAN Sproule says it feels like he has come home after he was unveiled as the new manager of Dergview Football Club.

The former Northern Ireland international was officially named as successor to Peter Allen, who resigned at the weekend, late last evening.

Sproule, who during a decade in the professional game played with Hibernian, Bristol City and Ross County, will be assisted by another Dergview old boy Neil Coulter.

For the past 18 months the pair had been in charge at NI Intermediate side Ardstraw however the opportunity to manage their hometown club proved too much to resist.

At last night’s press conference Sproule said, “I think for the both of us we have a long term connection with the club right back to when we were youth players and progressed into first team footballers at the club.

“We both had a successful time at the club and that attachment has stayed with us.

“The challenge has come up now to take over the club and we’re relishing getting stuck into it.”
