£30k for Tyrone community projects near windfarm

MORE than £30,000 in funding has been made available for community projects within a seven-mile radius of a windfarm in the Drumquin area.

Community groups and charitable organisations can now apply for grants of between £500 and £5,000 from the Energia Thornrog Windfall Community Benefit Fund.

Applications for the fund, which has a total value of £34,000, are being accepted until 1pm on Friday, November 16.
Drumquin, Lack and Ederney all fall within the seven-mile boundary of the windfarm.

The fund might support projects like recording and researching local history, the establishment of a ‘Men’s Shed’, small capital works to a community facility and environmental awareness schemes.
