Outstanding education at St. Mary’s

Every parent knows what they want for their child and an outstanding standard of education is often high on parents’ priority list.

Parents hope their children will go to a school where their child will be happy and where education is delivered to the highest standards. St Mary’s Primary School and Nursery Unit, Killyclogher, provides this outstanding, inclusive provision where parents can be confident that their child is being taught by caring, skilled teachers who will develop the qualities and talents of each child in a safe and friendly environment.

St Mary’s is a highly regarded and popular school in Killyclogher where high standards are expected and achieved. From Nursery upwards, the happy, caring and stimulating environment enables children to achieve their potential and experience success in their learning and development.

Principal, Carole McAuley, said, “In St Mary’s we are proud of how the teachers, parents and wider school community work together in partnership for the best interests of each child. This is a welcoming school with plenty of opportunity for parents to get involved in school life and to experience our strong community atmosphere, which we feel adds greatly to our provision. Our curriculum and extra- curricular activities develop the whole child and we take pride in the school’s high standards and continuing strong results.”

The school draws families from Killyclogher, Omagh and the surrounding areas. Visitors to the school often comment that while the school is big, it feels much smaller with a warm, family atmosphere. This is something that school staff work hard on, being approachable and getting to know each child so that our school community is close knit.

As the Nursery is not ‘standalone’, parents often report that the transition to Year 1 is smoother for children who attend St Mary’s Nursery as children are already familiar with the school environment.

If you are considering which Nursery or Primary School is your first preference, come along to see St Mary’s Primary School and Nursery Unit, Killyclogher, on Friday, December 7 at 9.30am when the school is open to prospective parents and children. Open morning will begin at 9.30am with a principal’s address. There will then be a chance for visitors to review the facilities and resources, to talk to the staff and to see the school in action. If prospective parents are unable to attend this event, please telephone the school on 028 8224 2313 to arrange an alternative visit or to obtain a prospectus and application form.

Comprehensive information is also available online on the school’s website: and on Twitter @StMKillyclogher. We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful school.
