Final heartbreak for Drumragh Integrated

Drumragh Integrated College…………0-5
Lagan College…………………………………3-8

DRUMRAGH Integrated College failed to get their hands on the Danske Bank JJ Reilly Cup for the second time in three years when they were well beaten by a strong Lagan College side at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown on Tuesday afternoon.

The winners led by five points at the break and once they got their second goal at the end of the third quarter there was no way back for Drumragh.

To their credit they battled until the final whistle but the scores wouldn’t come for them on a day when they manged just two second half points. Mason Weathercup grabbed the first goal of the contest midway through the first half and that enabled his side to lead 1-5 to 0-3 at the short whistle.

Oran Magee, Charlie Cooley, Daniel O’Neill and Maddox Roberts provided points for their respective sides with the latter being denied a goal by a fine save from Lagan College keeper Conor McNulty.

In the second half both sides created goal chances with Roberts again being denied by McNulty while at the other end of the field Drumragh Integrated keeper thwarted Weathercup.

Any hope that Drumragh had of mounting a comeback ended when Weathercup bagged his second goal of the game.

O’Neill and Roberts had points for the Tyrone lads but it was to be the Belfast schools’ day with a late Callum Crone major giving them a flattering twelve point victory.

Drumragh Integrated College scorers: Daniel O’Neill 0-3, Maddox Roberts 0-2

Lagan College scorers: Mason Weathercup 2-1, Oran Magee 0-5, Callum Crone 1-0, Brian Labourn 0-1, Charlie Cooley 0-1
