Lace up those shoes, and train for the half-marathon!

IT’S nearly time to lace up those running shoes, as tonight, the Enda Dolan Foundation’s much-anticipated half-marathon training programme is set to commence.

The new 12 week training programme will commence today (Tuesday, January 8) at 6.30pm at Youth Sport Omagh with registration from 6pm.

The hugely popular ‘Couch to 5K’ programmes have already seen hundreds of local people pound the running track of Youth Sport Omagh over the past number of years.

The foundation, named in memory of Killyclogher athlete Enda Dolan, is returning for a second year offering participants the chance to train for a half marathon.

“The couch to 5K has been very successful, we’re averaging 200 plus people per session,” said Peter Dolan. “We have 12-15 coaches there all the time, it’s a well-run programme, but we work hard at it.

“The success of last year’s programme showed there’s also an appetite for some of our graduates from the couch to 5K to take on the Omagh Half Marathon on April 6.”

Peter is encouraging anyone seeking advice and guidance ahead of taking on the 13.1 mile course to sign up and gain valuable advice from the foundation’s experienced coaching team.

The hugely successful couch to 5K programme, now entering its fifth year, also returns next month.

Both running programmes will conclude with the 5K ‘Run for Enda’/Omagh Half Marathon on Saturday April 6. For further information, visit the Enda Dolan Foundation on Facebook or contact (028) 8225 0403.
