Detectives given more time to question murder suspects

Detectives investigating the death of a man in Clogher at the weekend have been granted more time to question two suspects on suspicion of murder.
The body of Pat Ward (30), who was originally from Sligo, but had been living in Clogher, was found in an alleyway in McCrea Park at around 8.15am on Saturday morning.
Several hours later, detectives confirmed that they had launched a murder investigation.
This morning, a police spokesperson confirmed that a court had granted detectives an additional 28 hours to question a 23-year old man and a 33-year old woman who were arrested on Saturday morning on suspicion of murder.
Veteran Clogher Valley councillor, Wills Robinson, visited McCrea Park on Monday.
He said that local residents were in “complete shock” over what had happened.
Mr Robinson, who lives several miles outside Clogher and knows the area well, said, “A tragedy like that is beyond what you would expect to happen in a quiet, country village.”
