TYRONE have defeated the Dubs for the first time in six years as they recorded a massively deserved 1-14 to 1-11 victory at Croke Park this evening.
The Red Hands went hell for leather from from the opening whistle and overcame the concession of an early Cormac Costello goal when Cathal McShane slipped the ball under Stephen Cluxton with 20 minutes gone.
It was Mickey Harte’s 300th competitive game in charge of Tyrone and each and every one of his players were putting in a serious shift as they earned a 1-7 to 1-5 lead at the break.
There was no let up in the second-half as Tyrone soaked up wave-after-wave of Dublin attack while the likes of Richie Donnelly, Mattie Donnelly and Peter Harte inflicted serious damage the other end.
Dublin were three points behind deep into injury time but Tyrone’s defence held firm to earn a morale-boosting victory ahead of next Sunday’s final league clash against Galway.
