Sinn Féin encourage people to register to vote

SINN Féin President Mary Lou Mc-Donald TD has encouraged people to ensure they have registered to vote before Friday, April 12 deadline. She also urged people who will be away from home on the day of the election to apply for a postal or proxy vote. The Sinn Féin President said, “I would encourage everyone to make sure they are on the voter register and with online registration now available it has never been easier to claim your right to a vote.

“You can also exercise your right to vote by using a postal or proxy vote. You are entitled to a postal or proxy vote if you are away working, at university, on holidays, if you are ill or have a scheduled hospital appointment. The deadline for a postal or proxy vote is Wednesday, April 10.

ONLINE REGISTRATION SERVICE“I would encourage as many people as possible to use the online registration service on your smartphone, tablet or PC, it is available at and the process only takes five minutes.  “Alternatively, you can call into any local Sinn Féin office where office staff can assist you in the registration process and advise you if you are entitled to a postal or proxy vote. “The right to vote was hard won in the north. “Your vote is your opportunity to make a real difference in this election and put equality, respect and Irish unity at the heart of the local political process.”
