THIS evening’s Mulhern Cup semi-final at Ferney Park was marred by a serious injury to Beragh Swifts defender Jason Aiken.

In the closing minutes of the first half the centre-back was involved in an accidental collision and it was immediately apparent that he had fractured his right leg..

After being treated by paramedics the injured player was transferred to hospital by ambulance and following a delay of some 40 minutes the last four encounter resumed.

And all the goals came in the second half.

Luke Henderson netted from close range to give Swifts the lead but Tummery turned the tide with two goals shortly after the hour mark

Aidy McCaffrey levelled from a Ryan Hanna cross and just seven minutes later Malachy McLaughlin grabbed the winner after excellent play by Emmett McNabb.

Irish Junior Cup finalists Athletic will now meet NFC Kesh in the showpiece final after Nicky Noble’s team defeated Division Two champions Magheraveely 3-2 at the same venue 24 hours earlier..

A Keith Fannin own goal handed Kesh an early advantage but the newly-promoted side hit back in style with Enda Hessin and Paul Elliott both on target.

A Ryan Morris header again squared the tie on the stroke of half-time and it was the top-flight outfit who ultimately emerged victorious thanks to a Mark McCauley strike just shy of the hour mark.

The decider will take place back at Ferney Park on Friday, May 10.
