Kildare next up for Tyrone

TYRONE’S reward for seeing off Longford on Saturday is another road trip with Newbridge the destination for a clash with Kildare.

The counties last locked horns in the All-Ireland Qualifiers, also round three, in Newbridge in 2013 when Tyrone took the spoils 1-11 to 0-12.

Mickey Harte’s men earned their place in the next round courtesy of a four point victory over Longford at Pearse Park at the weekend. First half goals from Cathal McShane put the Red Hands firmly on top. That control was never relinquished although the dismissal of Peter Harte for the second consecutive game due to a black card left them bemused as Longford staged a mini-revival to put a more respectable look on the scoreboard by the finish.
