Errigal Ciaran first team through to senior quarters

ERRIGAL Ciaran are the first team through to the Tyrone Senior Championship quarter finals following a 0-15 to 1-8 victory over Eglish in the opening round tie at Healy Park.

The reigning All-County League champions were never really seriously troubled, despite the St Patrick’s producing a determined display at times.

Well-taken points from Darragh Canavan Pauric McAnenly, Aidan and Ronan McCrory and team captain, Peter Harte, ensured that they were always in control.

But there were some anxious moments from them, especially after Seamus Muldoon goaled for Eglish midway through the first half. However, they failed to score again before half-time, leaving themwith an uphill task on the resumption.

To their credit, they battled throughout and reduced the deficit down to four points by the final whistle. However, there was never any real doubting Errigal who will be satisfied at progressing to a quarter final meeting against either Omagh or Dungannon.
