Omagh Comicfest returns with fantastic line-up

Bringing to life the imaginative world of comic books and superheroes, ComicFest returns to Omagh next weekend for a celebration of sequential art and storytelling.

After a very successful debut last year, ComicFest is back and this year welcomes a host of comic creators, cosplayers and exhibitors to discuss all aspects of comics and illustration.

The festival will include a variety of interviews and panel talks focusing on different aspects of the comics industry. In total, some 17 panel guests from across Britain and Ireland will share their experiences, including how they broke into the industry.

This is a great opportunity for local aspiring writers and artists to pick up a plethora of amazing tips. Laura Howell, who draws the iconic character Minnie The Minx in The Beano comic, will be among those taking part in ComicFest, as well as Ian Edginton who has written Aliens Vs Predator, Star Wars, Wolverine and Batman.

International award winner Hunt Emerson, a pioneer of British underground comics in the 1970’s, is also confirmed to be in attendance.

As a warm up to ComicFest there will also be a ‘Pop Culture’ pub quiz in Bogan’s Bar next Friday, September 13 for all comic lovers to test their knowledge against the legends attending the festival.

ComicFest will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 10am in the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh. It is free to attend and open to all ages.

There will be a range of merchandise and comics on sale, as well as the opportunity for local creators to display and sell their own work

Full details of the programme are available on the Omagh ComicFest Facebook page.
