ERRIGAL CIARAN sent out an emphatic statement of intent on Saturday night as they cruised into the semi-finals of the Tyrone Senior Championship with a facile 2-13 to 1-10 victory over Omagh in Loughmacrory.
Goals in either half from Peter Harte and Odhran Robinson proved the pivotal scores as the Dunmoyle boys dominated across all sectors of the field against a below par St Enda’s.
Playing against the wind in the first period Errigal hit the first two scores courtesy of Darren Canavan and Darragh Canavan before Omagh struck four on the bounce, with the lively Conor O’Donnell twice on target.
It was Errigal though who gradually took control of proceedings as Pauric McAnenly and Padraig McGirr slotted over quality efforts and Harte surged through to blast a brilliant goal, as they established a 1-6 to 0-6 interval lead.
A decisive scoring spree of 1-3 in the early stages of the second period effectively put the contest to bed, with Robinson finishing to the net at the near post, after a fine interception by Steafan Tierney put him in the clear.
Full-back Hugh Gallagher poked home a close range goal in response for Omagh but with Peter Harte striking over some sublime pointed frees from distance, Errigal cantered home with plenty to spare.
