Love at first sight – after 60 years apart

A LOCAL couple have proven that love is timeless – and very patient – after finally tying the knot more than 60 years after they first met.

Veronica and Charlie Doherty fell in love in the fabulous ‘50s, but despite caring for each other dearly, their relationship ended and they didn’t speak for decades. However, in an unbelievable twist of destiny, Charlie managed to successfully track Dromore woman Veronica down, and soon realised that their flame which had all but burned out had been reignited with a passion.

Bringing their fairytale love story full circle, Charlie (84) and Veronica (82) were recently wed by Father Patrick McEntee during an emotional ceremony in Dromore.
