TYRONE boss Mickey Harte has drafted in a number of talented young players ahead of the imminent new season.
With the McKenna Cup campaign set to start in the last week of December, preparations are well underway at this stage and there have been a few new additions to the panel.
Galbally duo Conor Quinn and Daniel Kerr, Loughmacrory’s Conall Grimes, Edendork’s Conn Kilpatrick, Errigal Ciaran’s Niall Kelly and Ardboe’s Michael O’Neill have been called into the panel and will be hoping to get game-time during the pre-season competition.
Conor Quinn and Daniel Kerr have greatly impressed en route to Galbally’s place in the Ulster Intermediate Club Championship final. Quinn, a defender, captained St Ciaran’s Ballygawley to an All-Ireland final place in 2017, while Kerr led the Pearses to the Tyrone U21 championship in the same year.
Loughmacrory’s Conall Grimes gave a string of impressive performances for the Ulster Championship-winning Tyrone U20 team this season, while former underage star Conn Kilpatrick has also been drafted in.
Niall Kelly, who was centre-back on the Errigal Ciaran team which reached the Tyrone Senior Football Championship final this year, has also been brought.
Ardboe’s Michael O’Neill has also been called in. He’s spending a month in Australia but his return is imminent and he has been given a gym programme to follow while he’s been away.
It was also confirmed this week that Colm Cavanagh has decided to commit for another year, while Connor McAliskey has decided to take time out for personal reasons.
