Charity event a ‘lasting legacy’ to Dromore man

A STAGGERING display of community spirit has raised £84,900 (and counting) in memory of popular Dromore man Barry McQuaid, pictured, who was tragically killed in a work accident last year.

The funds were raised during an emotional ‘Night for Barry’ event held in a packed Mahon’s Hotel on Saturday night.

The money will be donated towards Tummery Primary School, attended by Mr McQuaid’s children, and Air Ambulance NI.

Aged just 34 when his life was cut short, the huge crowd in attendance bore testament to the esteem in which the father of three young children was held.

Mr McQuaid’s wife Edel said, “Barry was always happy and he would have dropped everything to help someone. He is a very big loss to this home and we miss him terribly.

“The turnout on Saturday was absolutely wonderful and a fitting way to remember Barry.”
