More festive lighting for Newtownstewart

EXTRA Christmas illuminations will be installed in Newtownstewart this year, according to a local councillor.
Sinn Féin representative Kieran McGuire explained that the local town will benefit from additional lights following representations he has been making within Derry City and Strabane District Council.
The Derg councillor said, “Following complaints from local residents in Newtown about the sparse nature of the Christmas illuminations in the town compared to towns of a similar size, I have been raising the issue within council and in further contact with officials this week I am now glad to report that additional illuminations have been secured and will be put up from this festive season onwards.
“I wish to thank council officials for their help in addressing this anomaly and also the council workers who do such a sterling job putting them up, and enhancing the festive setting of our towns and villages.”
