Christmas cheer in short supply for Fintona’s tree

A SOLUTION is being sought after a ‘disappointing’ Christmas tree appears to have needled local people in Fintona.

The tree, located on the main street of the village, was erected on Sunday but has sparked outrage online after pictures emerged on social media.

The majority of complaints state that Christmas tree appears to be poorly decorated with minimal lights, baubles and bows on the fir.

The tree is supplied by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, but a local community group is responsible for the decorations.

Many angry Fintona people took to Facebook to brand the tree ‘disappointing’ and ‘embarrassing’ stating, ‘Fintona deserves better than this.’

However, the council said it is their understanding that Fintona Community Forum is happy with its tree and that the picture of the Christmas tree that has been shared online was taken before the tree had been fully decorated.

Following the criticism, some local people are looking for a solution to boost the Christmas spirit in the town.
