THE long-serving principal of Drumragh Integrated College in Omagh is leaving in February to take up a new post in England.
Nigel Frith, who has been at the helm of the local school since 2005, has been named as the Church of England’s new director of education in Nottinghamshire.
Mr Frith announced his decision to staff and pupils at Drumragh last week.
His last day working at the school will be St Valentine’s Day (February 14).
In an emotional letter, Mr Frith reassured parents that, until then, it will be “business as usual”.
The father-of-two said it had been an “absolute privilege” to serve as principal since 2005.
“I will always treasure the memories and friendships I have enjoyed here. It will be very hard to move on – and I mean that – but I also know this is the right time,” he stated.
Current vice-principal, John Dennison, has agreed to take over as acting principal, while the governors are preparing the
recruitment process for his successor.
