THE Fermanagh and Western management committee are to meet tonight (Wednesday) to begin planning for the new season after Enniskillen Town United confirmed in a letter to local press that they would not be appealing the decision made by member clubs last week to end the previous one by using a points per game formula with promotion and no relegation.
A letter from club chairman Gerry Connolly said, “the club has, albeit with some reluctance, decided not to lodge another appeal.”
Last week clubs voted 16-14 for promotion without relegation after the IFA Appeals Board agreed in part with an original appeal by Town that the league office bearers shouldn’t have had a vote in the first decision which had arrived at a similar outcome.
Town’s decision against a second appeal means that Tummery Athletic will be declared Division One champions for the first time in the club’s history and that Mountfield and Enniskillen Athletic are promoted to the top flight with Enniskillen Galaxy, Derrychara United and Orchard Farm gaining promotion to Division Two.
It is hoped the new F&W season will kick off in mid September.
