Kyle takes the reigns at Omagh Accies

GLENN Kyle has been named the new head coach of Omagh Accies following Phil Marshall’s decision to step down after 10 years at the helm.

“It’s a big job, Omagh’s a big club, it’s a big opportunity and that’s why I applied for it,” explained the Augher man.

The former Clogher Valley and Ballynahinch man is no stranger to the Thomas Mellon Playing Fields, having represented the Accies during the 1996/97 AIL campaign. It was during that short period at the club he impressed ‘Hinch for whom he signed the next season and with whom he played for several years.

After his spell in Co Down, Kyle returned to Clogher Valley where he began as player-coach before forming a hugely rewarding partnership with Davy Black, which led to the Fivemiletown club enjoying the most successful era in its history.

In 2017 he left The Cran to return to ‘Hinch as strength and conditioning coach, where he has remained until his appointment as Phil Marshall’s successor.

An Accies spoksperson said: “We are delighted to welcome Glenn back to the club and are pleased to see him with the three lions back on his chest. We believe he is the right candidate to continue our on-pitch development.”
