Conor McKenna returns with top display despite loss

CONOR McKenna returned from his Australian Rules exploits to score 1-2 for Tyrone as they lost a key National League clash against Donegal by 2-17 to 2-13.

The Eglish star was on form with a great second half goal and two well-taken points. He was also fouled for the Tyrone penalty which Darren McCurry converted.

But the efforts of the now former AFL star weren’t enough to save the Red Hands from a defeat which means that they must win against Mayo next weekend to secure their Division One status for 2021.

Darren McCurry also grabbed a goal from a penalty as the Red Hands battled hard behind closed doors at Ballybofey. However, they were always playing catch-up against the home team.

Donegal led by 1-3 to 0-2 followig their first goal, before Tyrone hit back when Darren McCurry struck home from a penalty following a foul on Conor McKenna.

They trailed by three at half-time, reduced the deficit to one early on the resumption and they were then hit for goal number two.

However, while Darren McCurry, Conor McKenna and David Mulgrew all hit points, it was to no avail.
